Rosalee is a nun from the 15th century and wife of Hector, a Devil Forgemaster troubled by his past. She looks after the children who were bereaved of their parents during the war against Dracula.

Story

One day, Rosalee was looking for berries in the forest when she accidentally stumbled upon a man in the bushes who was covered in wounds. She poked him with a stick in order to check if he was still alive, which was indeed the case. The man told her not to bother with him because he would die soon. Rosalee ignored his pleas and took him to her house where she treated his injuries and laid him to rest in the back.

Soon thereafter, while walking home, she ran into Ted who was being scolded for wanting to go to the forest at night. His father had left the village in order to join in the fight against Dracula's legions and thus, had no family to stay with. She invited him over for supper, which the young boy accepted. When he was at her house, Ted expressed his concern and said that Rosalee shouldn't let strangers stay in her house. Before leaving, he told her that many supernatural things had been happening and that all the villagers were edgy because of it; they could begin acting suspicious if that strange man would stay any longer. Ted also pointed out the strange bird that apparently belonged to the man and always stayed on the same spot. Rosalee said it made her sad that the young boy judged people he didn't really know. Though the eyes of the man carried some kind of sin, it might have been God's will that he ended up at holy ground, which could aid him in finding salvation. This assured Ted and he set off, while Rosalee began preparing a meal for the stranger.

She suddenly noticed that the young boy was running towards her home again while being chased by a werewolf. The creature had burst into the house and was about to enter the room of the stranger, but Rosalee tried to stop him, which was of no use. Ted pleaded with the man to aid them. He was unwilling at first, saying that he possessed a cursed ability and that relying on it was a sin, but later accepted after seeing the boy's determination. He introduced himself as Hector and defeated the vile monster but disappeared soon afterward without any explanation. Ted asked her if she was worried about him and she replied that a feeling that something was about to happen had come over her.

The two set out to search for Hector and found him collapsed on the ground after receiving even more injuries from what was seemingly a battle. He was at the brink of death, but Rosalee was once again able to save his life.

Hector had recovered after several days and she found him standing in the shade while being lost in his own thoughts. She needed him to help out with the laundry. While doing so, Hector asked where his sword and armour were, but Rosalee said she couldn't give them to him because he hadn't fully healed yet. He reminded her of dangerous creatures like the werewolf that were roaming around, but she said they had all disappeared and that mankind itself was the threat now. Hector then thanked her for looking after him during the week that he was bedridden, saying that she was a kind and optimistic person. He wondered why Rosalee never asked him about his past, but she said the only things she knew were his name, that he was injured, he never had done laundry in his life, had pretty silver hair, and saved her and Ted, which was more than enough.

One week later, they were walking home from collecting apples when they stumbled upon a fallen tree, which was blocking their path. Hector volunteered to remove it and called something forth, which was seemingly a demon. He began acting strange soon thereafter and passed out. Rosalee, who was greatly concerned, brought him to her house and watched over him until he had regained consciousness. Hector then opened up to her and told his story about how he was detested by others who had all the right do so according to him. Rosalee didn't take notion of this and told him not to be enslaved by his past. His former deeds didn't matter to her, since it was a thing of the past. She really liked Hector, which was something he shouldn't forget before judging himself.

For the following three years, they would live peacefully and Hector would take her hand in marriage. This would come to an end when she one day traveled to a village in order to sell apples. There, she was accused of being a witch by a strange man, who also said she was trying to poison people with her goods. Rosalee was arrested by the authorities and a trial was started. To her horror, she was sentenced to be executed on the market square. She died while not noticing that her lover was witnessing the entire event and would eventually vow revenge.
