Prelude to Revenge is a short comic that was included as a pre-order bonus for Castlevania: Curse of Darkness. The comic is written and illustrated by Castlevania's recurring artist Ayami Kojima. The scenario provided is presented in a slightly different order then the one in the manga Curse of Darkness. If tied in with the manga, Prelude to Revenge roughly covers most of the same events chronicled in the second volume.

Story

The story begins with Hector walking through the wilderness while his Innocent Devils beg him to return to Dracula's Castle. While continuing to press on, Hectors ponders if there excists such a thing as an inborn sin.

He is soon caught up by Isaac who manages to mortally strike some of his Devils. Isaac tells him that he can't return to the human world and questions him about his support.

Hector recalls how Dracula had given him a home where he his abilities were accepted without blame. When Dracula's war against humanity began the people's screams could be heard within the castle's stone walls. Hector converts with Isaac about the matter but he told him not to worry because all of those who had died would reach Heaven faster.

As Hector remembers his pleads towards Dracula to stop, Isaac snaps him out of his reminiscence. He told Hector that he never denied his loyalty but he could not forgive disservice and treachery towards their Lord.

The two Devil Forgemaster engage in battle and Isaac is eventually defeated. Hector flees and as Isaac moves his wounded body towards Dracula's castle, he finds it in ruin. The Devil Forgemaster vows revenge against his former ally because he let him live to witness this horrible sight.

The following morning Hector is found laying beside the road by a nun named Rosalee who nurses him back to health. He continues to live with her and they eventually fall in love.

Isaac witnesses all of this through the use of a magical crystal ball. He wonders how much the moon has waxed while he was recovering. When Rosalee is in a local town to sell her goods, Isaac accuses her to be the witch Arachne. Rosalee is dragged off by the townsfolk to be excuted and Hector desperately tries to save her but had arrived to late. He is suddenly grabbed from behind by Isaac who forces him to witness his lover's death.

At the end of the story, Trevor Belmont senses that something of Dracula had remained and sets out to investigate.
