Gilles de Rais (also refered to as simply Dracula's Servant) is an immortal vampire and loyal follower of Dracula. He is one of the antagonists from Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness and Castlevania 64. In the latter, he disguises himself as Dracula in order to trick those who oppose his Master. He is loosely based on the character of the same name; a serial killer from the 15th century who had abducted and murdered several childeren before being hanged.

Story
Events of Legacy of Darkness
In 1844, he along with Actrise and Death plotted to revive their Lord once again. They managed to do this by spilling the blood of a young maiden over their Lord's remains. This time, the man-beast Cornell stood up against Dracula who was lured to the vampire's castle because his sister Ada was captured and brought there.
He along with Actrise encountered the man-beast within the dark depths of an underground passageway. Cornell proved to be a worthy opponent and was able to bring him to his knees. Actrise then made her entrance and the two vampires agreed that Cornell would put up an excellent fight against their Master. They then vanished, and awaited the next part of their plan.
His Master was eventually defeated by the man-beast and the Vampire Lord tried to drag Cornell's sister with him as a last act of revenge. The man-beast harnessed all his strength, and sacrificed the spirit of his wolf form in order to smash the crystal and save his sister therein, the wolf's spirit was effectively substituted as her replacement. Gilles was pleased as this was part of a greater scheme that could finally allow Dracula to triumph over mankind.
He along with her comrades gathered in Dracula's Throne Room where they witnessed the captured essense of Cornell's wolf form. Death then started an incantation in which he used the wolf form to give the soul of his Lord a new body. The ritual was a successes and Gilles eagerly waited until Master had come of age and would claim the title of Lord of Darkness once again.
Events of Castlevania 64
While awaiting the arrival of his Lord, he took on his appearance in order to prevent that suspicion would be placed on Malus (his reincarnation). He ordered the abduction of several childeren from a nearby village along with Malus who was old enough to become Dracula once again and reach full power prematurely. Two new vampire hunters would eventually arise, named Reinhardt Schneider and Carrie Fernandez who traveled to Dracula's Castle where Gilles awaited their arrival. After the two heroes had reached the towers located at the outer wall of the castle, he appeared and taunted them to turn back or die a horrible death.
When the two hunters reached the Castle Keep they where once again greeted by the pretended Dark Lord. Although he had perfectly copied the appearance of his Master, his inferior strength eventually proved to be his downfall. He fell to his knees and mocked the two heroes one final time by asking if they really believed that they had won. He declared that saving the world was no simple task and that this time darkness would rule the world; he then died in a ray of light.
