Forbidden Library: Manual of Style

From Castlevania Wiki - Forbidden Library

Jump to: navigation, search

Policies listed here are for usage in articles. Unless stated, they must be followed across the wiki, without exceptions. The Forbidden Library has a style that it uses to keep pages looking in a similar fashion. Below are some of the guidelines that are used for such purposes. Please take your time to read and follow the guidelines as closely as possible as you edit any and all pages.

Contents

Capitalization of words

In this wiki many words will appear in capitals letters. Do not change them.

A list of such words are:

  • Character names
  • Location names
  • Monster names
  • Names of games or official media
  • Official Terms
  • Titles and and Roles

Content

Game Pages

Characters

A brief summary and description of the characters from the game. Characters should be classified under either "Heroes", "Villains", or "Supporting Characters". The character summary should begin with the link to the corresponding character page (if any) in bold text. Then the Romaji of the character's name should follow, and then the Japanese name of the character, if it is known. The following content should be brief and thus no longer than 150 words.

Music

The following section can but not necessarily should include information about the composer, style of music, commercial releases of the game's soundtrack, the (name) origin of certain tunes, and popular/remixed tracks.

Regional Variations and Re-releases

Information about regional variations can be displayed as text with paragraphs or displayed in a list. In case of re-releases, it should always be used in case of ports of a game, but not in the case of remakes. If there is little or no notable information about a port, it should only be briefly mentioned. Information about the game's release, corresponding platform, and any other info should be given.

Bosses

The following templates should be used:

Gallery
  • Two images of normal gameplay
  • Two images of boss fights
  • Two matching scans of the manual
  • One image of official artwork

Characters

Other Appearances and Cameos

If a Castlevania character is playable in a non-Castlevania game then that game should be listed under "Other Appearances" in the character's respective page. In any other case, it should be listed under Cameos. Only brief information about the game the character appears in should be given and mostly about the character's role in it.

Image Gallery

The gallery should only include official artwork of the respective character (not sprites). Preferably any artwork that the character appears in should be included. No outlines should be around the images.

Creating new pages

Any Castlevania character may have his/her own page, as long as they meet the following criteria:

  • They must be involved in the story-line, meaning no background characters. In other words, if a character is only seen standing or sitting but does not interact or have any lines, they are not worthy.
  • They must be featured in the games or official media. Any character who is only mentioned by name is not worthy.

Perspective

In-universe: Articles should be written as if the reality in which Castlevania is set is genuine. For example, games and other Castlevania media should not be referred to in a sentence. These articles include all Characters, Locations, the Timeline, Enemies, Bosses, and Magic Systems.

Source Referencing

1) The wiki's information should only come from the games, official media, official websites, officially proven interviews, any other official material, and the series' producer Koji Igarashi.

2) The primary source for references would be the games and official media.

3) IGA's word is law.

4) Identical references should be combined. By combining identical references, it will help keep the pages clean and orderly.

5) All references should be in the same style. When in doubt, use your best judgment to make the references match the style of all other references. This will allow the wiki to remain cohesive and consistent.

Speculation

Do not speculate on the article pages. (Meaning if it is not stated or shown and cannot be properly referenced it is not a fact).

Talk Page

The talk page is for conversations on maintenance and article correctness only. General conversations, questions and speculations are to be placed only in the Anti-Chapel Forum or elsewhere.

Trivia

The Trivia section is for actual relevant proven facts related to the article. Fan speculation and "what ifs/maybes" as well as Junk Trivia type of information is not to be included in this section.

Vandalism and Language

1) Removing referenced and proven content from the pages is considered vandalism.

2) Vulgar and or slang terms are not to be used.

3) This wiki is not tolerant of inappropriate language in the wiki articles or Talk Pages.
