Story

Events of Dawn of Sorrow

After Dracula's final defeat at the hands of Julius Belmont, the powers of darkness slowly started to dispel. Celia, in turn, sensed that her own magical powers began fading away. A mysterious cult was formed, consisting of men and women who were longing for the arrival of a new Dark Lord. Due to recent happenings, Celia knew that a young man named Soma Cruz was the reincarnation of Dracula. She plotted to claim the Power of Dominance that was slumbering inside of him and grant that power to potential Dark Lords; those who were born on the exact moment of Dracula's demise and had inherited some of his powers.

Celia targeted Soma in his home town of Hakuba in order to reawaken his magical powers that he thought he had lost ever since he left Dracula's castle one year earlier. She appeared before him and summoned forth monsters from the underworld to attack. Soma defeated them and had regained his powers during the battle. Celia told him that she would do everything in her power to see his demise, and then vanished, knowing that it was only a matter of time before the youth went after her.

Soma arrived at the cult's base of operation; a castle built on the remains of Castlevania, where Celia introduced him to her Dark Lord Candidates: Dario Bossi and Dmitrii Blinov. She also revealed her plan and motive to him; Dario and Dmitrii would be waiting for him in the castle, trying to kill him and claim the Power of Dominance for their themselves.

Celia's plan failed, however, as both of her Candidates failed in eliminating him. Just moments after Dario was defeated, she appeared to Soma and told him that he was much more than she had imagined. The youth was tired of chasing her around and he wanted to stop playing games, to which she agreed. Soma remarked that she seemed a bit too confident despite running out of Dark Lord Candidates. Celia responded that there was more than one way to create a new Lord of Darkness. The game wasn't over quite yet and she dared him to come to the center of the castle; there was something she wished him to see.

Another plan was set in motion: Celia would lead Soma to the castle's garden area, where she would pretend to kill his good friend, Mina Hakuba, who was in actuality a doppelganger. This event would surely push Soma over the edge and he would succumb to his slumbering darker half.

All was going well, and the birth of a new Dark Lord was almost at hand. Though Celia wasn't expecting a certain factor that would throw a wrench into her plan: Through only the potency of a special talisman, which was entrusted to him by the actual Mina, Soma was able to fight off his dark side.

The cause seemed lost, but all of a sudden, Dmitrii made his entrance and revealed that he had never died and that he had been residing in Soma's soul to copy the Power of Dominance with his special ability. Though this event was unexpected, Celia nonetheless became loyal to the new Lord of Darkness. This would prove to be her downfall when Dmitrii used her as a sacrifice to render the powers of Genya Arikado useless, thus ending her life.
