Super Castlevania IV Inventory

ere you will find complete lists for all of the items, equipment, et cetera found in Super Castlevania IV.
Whips
Vampire Killer

Trusty weapon used by the Belmont Clan across the ages. In this game, it's a true multi-purpose tool, as it can be brandished to protect from out-of-way threats, swung in eight directions and even to grab specific rings that enable Simon to reach places he normally couldn't. The default leather form is weak and short, however.
Chain Whip

Not any longer than in its original form, but packs twice the punch. Quintessential for daring adventurers, it makes a different sound than the leathery weapon when it's swung.
Morning Star Whip

The strongest of the whips, retaining the power of the last form and gaining some extra inches for enhanced assault. With this, none are safe from Simon's wrath in the lands of Transylvania.
Sub-Weapons
Dagger

Thrown in a straight, unyielding line across the screen. Consumes little hearts, but cannot do much damage either. You're best off avoiding it altogether, although it always seems to turn up in the most annoying spots possible.
Holy Water

Still called "Fire Bomb" in western localizations at the time. Holy Water is thrown in a vial, which shatters upon contact and releases gradually blazing flames in the spot. Good for taking on foes with little mobility, but its effect seems to be on the weak side in this game.
Axe

Everyone's favourite tool for disposing of pesky airborne foes, although Simon's whip is a sound tool for that purpose here as well. Still, the axe has a long range and does great damage when you learn to lob them from a proper distance.
Stopwatch

The pocket-sized watch is enough to stop any minor enemy in its tracks for a few seconds. Take the time to quickly destroy them or slip past unharmed, whichever you prefer. Don't try to catch bosses with this gadget, though.
Cross Boomerang

Powerful as it always is, the boomerang is the weapon of choice for many vampire hunters. It has great range, ease of use, and the potential to deal double damage with its flight across the screen and back. Don't leave home without it.
Power-Ups and Magical Items
Morning Star

A symbol of war that enhances and transforms the Vampire Killer into a more deadly form. Collect two of these for the highest level of whip power. It is required for you to have some hearts in stock before a Morning Star will appear from a candle or an enemy.
Small Heart

Hearts fuel the sub-weapons. This small and common type grants one point to your counter, which equals one shot with any sub-weapon, except the stopwatch, which requires five.
Large Heart

The bigger counterpart to the former, the large heart grants five points for sub-weapon use. Found randomly from enemies and designated spots within stages.
Chicken Leg

A delicious morsel, this piece of meat is enough to replenish a small amount of lost energy.
Pot Roast

A Castlevania original, this feast of a meal recovers Simon's health greatly.
Rosary

Sacred rosary beads used in prayer shield those in the faith from unholy abominations. Watch your foes fall as they are showered in light that clears away evil.
Invisibility Potion

As the name implies, gulping down this brew makes Simon transparent and enables him to press forward unhindered by anything. In turn, he cannot successfully attack while in this state.
Money Bag

What's an adventurer without loot? Transylvania is packed full of all sorts of hideyholes where great fortunes are bestowed upon those who are willing to risk their neck for them. Money bags come in different sizes, and add points to your score counter.
1-Up

A rare treasure, but one which Simon may need during his travels. Grants one extra life to your stock. Extremely tough to locate.
Double Shot

Augmentation that enable you to use a sub-weapon twice in quick succession. Keep killing enemies with your sidearm, and they'll eventually drop one of these.
Triple Shot

Same as before, but now with triple the original firepower. As you can imagine, certain sub-weapons becomes truly fearsome with the aid of this trinket. The method for acquiring it is the same as in the Double Shot's case.
Magic Crystal

The reward for conquering a stage's boss, it converts whatever time is left on your counter towards additional points and restores Simon to full health. Not too shabby. Remember to try and grab it with a stylish pose.
