Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse Characters

Trevor Belmont

revor Belmont is an outcast. His family was driven from civilization because people feared their great powers. He was taught in the ways established hundreds of years before by his ancestor, Leon Belmont. His training made him a powerful vampire hunter, as did his weapon, the Vampire Killer whip, which had been in the Belmont family for generations.
In 1476, Count Vlad Tepes Dracula waged a terrible war against humanity, and countries fell under the pressure of Dracula's army. The Church battled Dracula's forces, but entire armies that were dispatched were never heard from again. With nowhere else to look, the Church sought out a member of the folkloric Belmont family. A twist of fate led them to Trevor. Though Trevor's family was scorned by society, he agreed to help them. He would try to fulfill the promise that his ancestor Leon made to Mathias Cronqvist, who now called himself Count Dracula - the promise saying that the Belmonts would hunt him down and slay him.
Along his journey toward Dracula's Castle, Trevor met interesting people who offered to help him. There was Grant, a freedom fighter, Sypha, a magician, and Alucard, the son of Dracula. Together, these heroes rise up to defeat the Count and bring peace to Europe.

Grant Danasty

Grant was a victim of Dracula's regime. In the lands Dracula conquered, heinous acts were committed against the populous, such as indiscriminate killing, dismemberment, and transforming people into terrible creatures. Grant's family was killed and he was turned into a hideous monster that stood guard over a clock tower.
Trevor Belmont faced and defeated Grant while he was in this state. This freed Grant from the spell and returned him to his normal form. Grant was thankful to Trevor for the rescue, and offered to join the Vampire Hunter in his quest toward vanquishing the Count. Trevor agreed. Trevor's vampire hunting skills were teamed with Grant's acrobatics, and the two of them formed a friendship.
Grant has bitter hatred in his heart for Count Dracula, and is totally willing to give his life for the heroes' cause if need be.

Sypha Belnades

Sypha is a young woman who disguises herself as a man. She is a cleric training to become a monk, and very adept at magic. She uses her powers to hunt dark creatures of the Night for the Church. The Church dispatched Sypha on a mission to infiltrate Dracula's Castle and slay the Count in an effort to bring an end to the carnage and bloodshed of the war. On Sypha's journey toward the castle, she was defeated by a Cyclops and imprisoned as a stone statue.
Trevor Belmont happened across the woodland the Cyclops guarded, and he defeated the creature, breaking the spell that bound Sypha. She was thankful for the help, and when she realized Trevor's mission was the same as hers, she offered to lend her abilities toward his cause. Trevor welcomed the help. On their adventures, Sypha and Trevor grew closer together, and formed a romantic bond.

Alucard

Adrian Farenheight Tepes, who also goes by the name Alucard, is the product of a union between Count Dracula and a human woman. Dracula unleashed his rage upon the humans when they unjustly killed the woman he loved at the stake, assuming her to be a witch. While Dracula sought vengeance upon the humans, Alucard knew his mother would not want him to take such a course. She taught her son forgiveness. Alucard realized the wickedness of his father's deeds and decided to take a stand against him, for the sake of humanity and justice.
Alucard knew he could not defeat his father by himself, so he searched for a warrior strong enough to aid him and found Trevor Belmont. Alucard joined Trevor's team and set off to destroy his father.

Count Dracula

Once he was a kind man known as Mathias Cronqvist, who fought in the name of God, and for the Church. When the one dearest to him died from illness, he blamed God and turned his back on his Lord and abandoned humanity by becoming a Vampire and gaining perverse immortality. Mathias had extreme disdain for God, and around him gathered those who felt the same way. Changing his name to Vlad Tepes Dracula and stationing within a magic castle, he welcomed blasphemers, heathens, heretics, and all who were shunned by the Light and recognized his authority.
Despite the course he took, Dracula came to know the love of a human woman named Lisa, and when humans unjustly killed her, he turned his hatred toward the entire human race and waged war on them. Count Dracula's forces conquered and ravaged lands. The Church opposed them with its armies, but none were strong enough to withstand Dracula's onslaught.
Dracula sits at the top of his castle, squeezing humanity within his death grip as the humans desperately seek a way out.
