Castlevania: Circle of the Moon Characters

Nathan Graves

Appearances:
Castlevania: Circle of The Moon (1830, alternate timeline)

fter a battle against Dracula, led by Morris Baldwin and Nathan's parents, Nathan began training as a Vampire Slayer under Morris along with Morris' son, Hugh. Nathan had lost his parents in the struggle with the Count, and Morris Baldwin took it upon himself to instruct and guide Nathan. Morris was aging and needed a successor if the creatures of the Night were to strike again.

Nathan was chosen as the true heir to carry on the task of holding evil creatures at bay, rather than Morris' own son, Hugh, and was given the Hunter Whip. This caused rivalry between the two young men, due to Hugh's confusion and anger created by the decision.

Upon the signs of Dracula's resurrection, Nathan and Hugh were brought along with Morris to an Austrian castle to help the aging Vampire Hunter in stopping the resurrection. However, after falling down a huge tower, due to a surprise attack from Dracula, the two parted ways in hopes of rescuing Morris, who had gotten captured by Dracula and Carmilla.

Nathan marched forward, despite Hugh's rejection of his presence, and rescued Morris, as well as put an end to the possibility of Dracula's full revival.

Nathan proved Morris' decision to be right after defeating legions of monsters, coming to the aid of Morris, and destroying Count Dracula.

Hugh Baldwin

Appearances:
Castlevania: Circle of The Moon (1830, alternate timeline)

He is the tempestuous and competitive son of Morris Baldwin.

Despite the friendship with Nathan, initiated by the two's training with one another, Hugh's emotions turned to jealousy, befuddlement, and anger when he was dubbed to be the lesser student, even though Nathan could never defeat him in training.

A sly maneuver by the Dark Lord Dracula in an Austrian castle sent Hugh and Nathan down a massive chamber and into the Castle's catacombs. Telling Nathan to leave the job to him, he set out to rescue his father, and perhaps be named the successor after the deed was done. However, after being outmatched by his partner in some conflicts with the Castle's monsters, an enraged Hugh gave in to the temptation of Dracula's dark magic.

Morris Baldwin

Appearances:
Castlevania: Circle of The Moon (1830, alternate timeline)

A relatively old man, Morris Baldwin is one of the heroes responsible for Dracula's downfall years ago.

After the event, Morris set out to take two promising individuals under his tutelage to continue his Vampire Hunting legacy. Morris was saddened to realize that the decision to pick Nathan as his primary successor over Hugh resulted with negativity in his son's behavior.

Morris and his students caught wind of Dracula's resurrection in progress and made their way to a massive Castle. Unfortunately, the three of them were too late, and Morris was captured, with Dracula sending Nathan and Hugh down a pit after collapsing the ground beneath them.

Carmilla

Appearances:
Castlevania II: Simon's Quest (1698)
Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (1792)
Castlevania: Circle of The Moon (1830, alternate timeline)

The year of 1830 is not the Vampress Carmilla's first involvement with Dracula. She attempted to defeat Simon Belmont in his quest to burn Dracula's remains, and attacked Richter Belmont in his journey to rescue young kidnapped maidens and defeat the Count.

In some form, Countess Carmilla was reborn into the world, and went about the process of calling Dracula back into the Earthly realm in the ceremonial room of her Austrian castle. But, the Dark Lord was not at his full capacity, and needed her and her minions to guard him until the circle of the moon formed and the rite was complete with Morris Baldwin, an old Vampire Hunter they had captured.

Carmilla's philosophy is that humanity's natural tendency is to be evil, and, therefore, they should all accept it and cover the world in their sin.

Count Dracula

He is the vampiric King of the Night who presides over all who dwell in darkness. Count Dracula and his castle are said to ascend from the dead to plague mankind once every hundred years, but Countess Carmilla resurrects him prematurely in her Austrian castle, though he is not at full strength.

In order to bring him the power he needs, Carmilla captures his old nemesis, Morris Baldwin, and plans to sacrifice him when the moon is full, thus giving the Dark Lord the energy to be whole again.

Necromancer

Appearances:
Castlevania: Circle of The Moon (1830, alternate timeline)

It seems this shady character has a history with Dracula. Nothing else is known about this skeletal demon that disguises himself as an evil wizard.
