Castlevania: Circle of the Moon
ircle of the Moon (CotM) is the game that started the well recieved Gameboy Advance Castlevania trilogy and was one of the earliest titles for the handheld. It was first released in Japan as Akumajo Dracula: Circle of the Moon on March 21st, 2001. The North American audience received this title on June 8th, 2001, and the European release was not at all far behind, as Circle of the Moon landed there on June 10th, 2001, simply under the title Castlevania.
Circle of the Moon is the third and last Castlevania game developed by the now defunct Konami Computer Entertainment Kobe (KCEK), which was the division behind Castlevania 64 and Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness. The current producer of Castlevania, Koji (IGA) Igarashi, who worked on the Castlevania series in 1997, and returned to it in 2002 to produce CotM's Gameboy Advance descendant, Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, has removed the storyline and events of CotM from the overall Castlevania timeline. Despite this, IGA would later induct former KCEK members to assist in making Castlevania games, such as Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin.
