Castlevania items

ere you will find complete lists for all of the items, equipment, et cetera found in Castlevania.
Whips
Vampire Killer

Passed down from father-to-son in the Belmont family for generations, it is the symbol of the Vampire Hunter clan, and their primary weapon. The whip is initially in the standard leather form, and isn't very powerful and lacking good range. Collecting the Morning Star power-up will remedy this and upgrade the whip to its next form.
Chain Whip

The Vampire Killer's abilities are enhanced by the Morning Star pick-up, doubling its destructive power. The look changes as well; smooth leather is replaced by tough steel.
Morning Star Whip

Richter Belmont's preferred version of the whip; it's a brutal weapon with a spiked ball attached to the chain body's tip. An absolute necessity for Simon, the length is improved greatly, allowing for far better range.
Sub-Weapons
Dagger

Known mainly for the distaste shown towards it among players, the Dagger is the weakest of the five sub-weapons, and the least useful. It's thrown in a straight line, hitting any enemy or candle that comes in its path.
Holy Water

Called "Fire Bomb" in early localizations (to avoid religious connotations), the flask of divine liquid is a formidable addition to Simon's arsenal. Thrown a short distance forward, the vial shatters and the burning effects of the water trap any foe that come into contact with it, repeatedly damaging them. Combining this with a Double or Triple Shot will produce deadly results.
Axe

The axe travels in a high upward arcing motion, effectively striking enemies above and below, if the user has the appropriate skills for it. Mainly used against airborne foes, and those that lurk on out-of-reach platforms. The Axe is great in power, but slightly cumbersome to use without proper training.
Stopwatch

The only sub-weapon which is not for straight-up attacking purposes. The Stopwatch will stop time for five seconds or so, allowing you to escape from a tricky situation or wail on unprotected enemies. The first two bosses are vulnerable to it, the rest are immune to its effect. Also, it consumes five hearts per use, unlike the other sub-weapons which need only one.
Cross Boomerang

Or just 'boomerang', but it does have that distinct shape to it. A very useful tool, the Cross Boomerang will travel for the entire length of the screen, and return back to the sender afterwards, striking whichever enemies come into contact with it during its flight.
Power-Ups & Treasures
Morning Star

Whip augmentation for the Vampire Killer. Can be acquired from any candle or enemy after collecting five hearts or more (evolves into the Chain Whip), and the second time after eight hearts or more have been procured (evolves into the Morning Star Whip).
Heart

Powers sub-weapons. Procured from designated candles, or dropped by enemies. They add to point totals at the end of a stage.
Big Heart

This is worth five regular Hearts.
Double Shot

Allows for near-simultaneous use of sub-weapons, such as throwing two vials of Holy Water in succession. Found inside breakable walls, or by using your sub-weapon repeatedly to destroy enemies. After some time, a Double Shot will drop from a candelabra or an enemy.
Triple Shot

Same as the above, but allows for three sub-weapons to be used instead of two. Found in the same locations as its cousin, though you will only receive one if you already have a Double Shot in your possession.
Pot Roast

Affectionately labeled "wall meat" by fans, this delicious meal will restore six bars of health to Simon's drained meter. Found inside breakable walls in certain spots, and nowhere else.
Invisibility Potion

Renders Simon invincible, sporting an opaque silhouette. It lasts considerably long, though Simon cannot hurt enemies when it is in effect. Procured from candles or enemies.
Rosary

Sacred rosary beads will extinguish the life of any on-screen enemies in a blinding flash upon collecting it. Found in candles or enemies.
1-Up

Adds one life to your stock. Hidden exceptionally well in surroundings.
Money Bags

Add points to your point total. They come in different varieties: red are worth 100 points, blue 400 points and white 700 points. There are also special, hidden money bags that are worth multiple thousands in points. Procured from candles, enemies and surroundings.
Hidden Treasures

These can be anything. Crowns, chests, money bags, even a moai head from the Gradius series. Found by performing certain actions inside stages. Add greatly to your point total.
