Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge Versions
here are a few different versions of Belmont's Revenge that vary in ways. There is the American version, the Japanese version, and the European Gameboy Color version found in Konami GB Collections Vol. 4.
Differences between the American Version and Japanese Version
The American version is very close to the Japanese version, but the axe sub-weapon is used instead of the cross boomerang. I'm not sure why this is the case, but it makes for an interesting variation. The axe is probably more useful than the cross in this game, because the whip already has the capability to launch dependable projectiles straightforward when at full power, and the axe gives you a means of attack that is unlike that.

In 2000, Konami released several classic Gameboy games for the Gameboy Color in package collections. Castlevania: The Adventure was included in one of these, and Belmont's Revenge found its way to the fourth volume. Some big changes were made to it. The most obvious being that it is in color. The prologue and endings are different from the American version, and are more fluently put together.
Christopher's son is called Soleil instead of Soleiyu. This is a more accurate translation than what first appeared in the American version. However, similar to Belnades, regardless of it being a botched translation, it stuck with fans and Konami officials. Therefore, though it was originally intended to be Soleil, the character is officially known as Soleiyu.
This version of the game uses the cross sub-weapon instead of the axe.
