Duck Tales Remastered
12 May 2013 - 11:58 PM
Late, but I just found out about this.
I think it's time to free up some disk space and grab some XBLA Points. And I'd love to hear how they've redone The Moon, which was hands-down the best song from the original. -
Lords of Shadow without the Castlevania
14 January 2013 - 12:22 AM
So I'm finally playing LOS and once I get past the rather blatant GOW and SOTC channeling, I find that I'm really enjoying it. Not so much as a Castlevania game but as its own thing.
Then it hit me: would you have liked LOS better had the story been changed a bit and all CV references removed? Would you have preferred it as a non-CV game? Coz for all our grievances against it now, I can sure picture us getting all "Wow this should totally be Castlevania" or "Gabriel is an honorary Belmont" had Konami taken a risk and let it be the possible start of a new franchise.
LOS general topic too, I suppose.

Castlevania Confessions
01 December 2012 - 11:20 PM
It's been awhile, and this went well the last few times this was started. So let's have another! I'll start:
- For all my general dislike of LOS, I find the Combat Cross a more practical (and even badass) weapon than the Vampire Killer
- I bought a 3DS just for Mirror of Fate. Any other game is just a bonus.
- I save-stated my way through Haunted Castle.
- I wouldn't mind the Bram Stoker novel being part of the canon. Even if its events weren't Castlevania-ized.
- One way or another, at least one of my kids will be named after a CV character.
- I say, "What a horrible night to have an X" a whole damn lot IRL.
- I'm beginning to think the 1999 game must never be made
Step right up and let it all out. - For all my general dislike of LOS, I find the Combat Cross a more practical (and even badass) weapon than the Vampire Killer

Castlevania's future, post-LOS 2
28 September 2012 - 08:17 AM
So awhile back, Cox said LOS2 would be Mercurysteam's final entry in their stint on Castlevania. This leaves the door open for a new team to take the reins. Who should it be and what direction would you like them to take?
This has been suggested plenty of times but I think Wayforward should be next in line for handheld and downloadable 2D/2.5D titles set in the classic timeline. Contra 4, Aliens Infestation, Double Dragon Neon, and what I've seen of Hotel Transylvania convinced me they'll do a fine and faithful (and sometimes funny) job with any 2-D CV. It helps that they've outright said they'd love to take on the franchise. If they can at least bring back Ayami Kojima or Masaki for artists, that'd be a personal bonus.
Alternatively: Griptonite Games. It's wrong to pin developer merits on a single game, I know, but their work on Shinobi 3DS impressed me as much as WF's on Contra 4. For that reason alone, I wouldn't mind them doing CV too.
Thoughts? 3-D's not exactly my strength so I'd love to hear who you think should do those, too.
