Peklo has his little grub hole in Skyrim, foraging berries and punching dragons. Nightmare has the fourth stratum in Etrian Odyssey, where stuff happens. And Snake is fast friends with the orcas by Emerald Coast, letting the ocean breeze wash his face. But where is my video game home? Someone mentioned Dynasty Warriors: Kamen Rider, but would I really feel at home with those I idolize. Peklo's video game home is one that shares the same little things he does in life, in his dinky little cabin deep within the Finnish wood. Where is my video game home?

Or rather, what's yours?

Your video game home is that DS game where you use the stylus to wipe sweat off of young men who have been working out.
Coincidentally, that is also my video game home.

Wait, I'm confused. Is this places we could see ourselves living in (or something that otherwise fits us), or just lovely places that we'd like to live in?

It's places where we feel at home.

For clarification, the fourth stratum in Etrian Odyssey is a desert.

The Zone of Alienation, where STALKER takes place. I can't really explain it, its a horrible, desolate wasteland, yet it is beautiful and serene. Familiar but alien. I'm always so comfortable when I play STALKER, the game world just feels right to me.

The Forbidden Area of Aria of Sorrow, I'd love making a home behind that waterfall.

Oh ok.

Well, the first place that comes to mind is the Windmill room in ICO. All of ICO is lovely, really, but the Windmill is just... special. It's the only place in that castle I actually feel safe, like I can just kick back and take it easy for a time. Yorda certainly seems to think so too, since she immediately wanders off.

Second place that comes to mind is Shenmue II's Hong Kong. Despite its huge, sprawling nature it's a very cozy-feeling place. It's always calming to walk around and explore the various areas— each of which have their own unique architecture.

And while I wouldn't want to live there, the Forbidden Lands are always a joy to explore.

Oh, definitely. It feels very alive, so I can see why you would want to live there. I've always liked that sort of place, which is why I usually don't understand when people feel the need to live somewhere really quiet and with a low population.

I'd say the castle in Symphony of the Night. It seems like a place I wouldn't mind being lost in for all eternity. That or Dark Souls' Lordrin. If mainly for the fact that it's one of the most "alive" and well realized, mesmerizing, even if creepy, locations that I've ever wandered in.

But as for a singular area? Garden Forgotten by Time from Lament, or the Villa from Castlevania 64.

I've spent a ridiculous amount of time playing Phantasy Star Online, so I'm obligated to mention Pioneer 2. Of course, the Roivas family mansion from Eternal Darkness is the only area in the game that doesn't screw with your head at every given opportunity. Both of these really feel like safe havens for me, like I've just returned home from some awesome adventure. The villa from Castlevania 64 is a fairly close 3rd place, if only for the abundance of cinematic vampire encounters and lack of platforming.

Anywhere in Dead Space (go figure). Also Green Hill Zone in Sonic Generations
There's stuff to do and fun to have!

I really wish I could say something about Dark Souls right now, given how obsessed I've been with it lately... but I really can't. =P

I'd like to live somewhere less lethal, thank you.

The Cedar Region of Breath of Fire III; specifically, the Cedar Region during the opening arc with Rei and Teepo.
